Recently called to the bar in Pennsylvania, our newest attorney Thomas "T.C." Clare originally joined Caesar in 2007 as Technical Advisor. As an inventor himself and drawing upon rich experience in engineering and management, T.C. has assisted in advising our leading clients in:

  • product innovation;
  • domestic and international patent prosecution;
  • patent portfolio assessment and management;
  • IP licensing;
  • mergers and acquisitions;
  • setting global filing strategies based on legal and economic indicators; and
  • client internal management, reporting, and budgeting of IP legal services.

Today T.C. focuses on patent validity opinions, litigation Markman presentations, and working with inventors to develop new filings. In doing so he often draws upon his own expertise in analog and digital CMOS and bipolar VLSI integrated circuits, radio frequency sensors and instrumentation, industrial and military control systems, embedded software, surveillance technologies, and manufacturing processes.

T.C. was formerly the Director of Technology Development Worldwide for Checkpoint Systems (NYSE:CKP), a multinational security electronics firm. At Checkpoint, he established its first internal intellectual property support group to manage a portfolio of over 5,000 patent and trademark properties in 80 nations worldwide. Before that, T.C. spent a decade as a lead electronics engineer on projects developing consumer, industrial, and aerospace sensor and control systems.

T.C. holds a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania (BSEE 1989), a management degree from Yale University (MBA 2003), and a law degree from the Temple University Beasley School of Law (JD 2011).

T.C. is listed as an inventor on eleven patents granted by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. These relate to his inventions for RFID surveillance and inventory management systems, and on high-speed electronic label manufacturing processes. More patents pending.
