 Mr. Berkowitz's practice focuses on all aspects of Intellectual Property law including federal and state litigation, appeals, patent and trademark prosecution, licensing and client counseling. He has extensive experience in litigating matters involving Abbreviated New Drug Applications (ANDA) under the Hatch-Waxman Act for generic pharmaceutical companies. Registered to practice as a patent attorney before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Mr. Berkowitz has represented clients before the U.S. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences. Mr. Berkowitz chairs the firm’s Professional Recruiting Committee and serves on its Marketing Committee. Mr. Berkowitz is a leader in a number of professional and community organizations. In 2007, he was elected to the Board of Governors of the Philadelphia Bar Association for a three year term. Within the Philadelphia Bar Association, he currently co-chairs the Intellectual Property Committee, serves as laison to the Finance Committee and serves on the Israel Exchange Committee. In addition, he is a co-Director of the Philadelphia Bar Association Charity Run. Also, Mr. Berkowitz is an adjunct faculty member at Temple University School of Dentistry where he teaches orthodontics residents about intellectual property issues relating to their practice. He is the immediate past Chancellor of the Louis D. Brandeis Law Society, a group of Jewish lawyers and judges in the Philadelphia region that promotes opportunities for leadership development, social interaction, education and community service. Before becoming an attorney, Mr. Berkowitz worked for five years as an engineer with the Space Systems Division of the General Electric Company.
