 Doug Panzer specializes in intellectual property law transactions and litigation related to computer software, e-commerce and the Internet. Doug brings his years of experience in the computer and software industries to bear on every matter he handles. His clients include large healthcare organizations, e-commerce companies, web designers, software developers and users of licensed technology and technology services.
In addition to handling all aspects of technology-related litigation, Doug devotes a substantial part of his practice to the areas of computer software licensing; information technology related transactions; data privacy, confidentiality and technology use policies, including website terms of use and corporate network usage policies; and electronic data retention policies with a focus on compliance with electronic discovery rules and best practices.
Prior to practicing law, Doug had an extensive career developing and managing web and enterprise technologies while employed by or consulting for a variety of companies, including BroadVision, Inc., The National Institutes of Health, and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He was directly involved in the development of such websites as CHOP.edu, CIBC.com, Fleet.com, GESupply.com, Maidenform.com, Polo.com, and Timberland.com.
Doug's formal education and hands-on experience include programming in C/C++, Java, ASP and PHP, as well as database experience with Oracle, MS SQL Server, mySQL and PostgreSQL. Doug was the founder of ReOrbital, LLC, a web development and design consulting firm and served as its Director of Technology.
A graduate of American University - Washington College of Law (J.D. 2006), Doug received undergraduate degrees from Washington & Lee University (B.A. Economics, 1998; B.S. Computer Science 1999).
